Members of Parliament have advocated reforming the BBC's fee structure. They propose cutting costs and broadening financial support to cover areas outside of television. MPs also suggest abolishing the BBC's charter renewal and preventing the broadcaster from undercutting commercial rivals for overseas shows. The proposals aim to solve the BBC's operational difficulties as it faces a critical decision point. The recommendations come amid persistent talks about the broadcaster's long-term strategy.
