OpenAI recently released the GPT-5.6 on July 9, 2026.
The model is billed as an extremely token-efficient system for coding,, with a 54% improvement over prior versions.
OpenAI said the launch was pushed back to satisfy enhanced U.S. cybersecurity measures.
GPT-5.6 is expected to cut compute costs for developers and quickly produce code generation.
OpenAI also merged Codex into its desktop application, now named ChatGPT Work, and bundled the new model inside.
Sea announced a collaboration to host a regional coding hackathon in Singapore in August.
The event will draw students, young startups and developers looking to test the new tools.
