Nine crew members from China were taken into custody for illegal fishing in waters near Yeonpyeong Island.

Coast guard officers were given formal recognition for their work. They had chased off illegal Chinese crab boats in the area.

In a separate incident, a prawn fisher from West Vancouver was fined $5,000. The fine was issued because he dropped traps near glass sponge reefs.

Authorities say there will be no fishing for coho salmon in Lake Washington. The closure applies to anglers in that lake.

The Wuchang fish industry is branching out too.
