An hobbyist observer using Google Maps stumbled upon a wide circular hollow in northern Quebec. Experts at Quebec’s geological survey authenticated it is a massive meteorite impact crater formed around 390 million years near Lake Mistassini. The terrain feature closely matches other confirmed craters and indicates a cataclysmic long-ago blow. Satellite images were compared in detail field data to substantiate the discovery.
