Between 266,000 and 450,000 high school students marched through cities across France on Tuesday in what organisers called "act 3" of an continuing wave of protests. Classes were disrupted across the country as clashes broke out, with police making 488 arrests.
President Emmanuel Macron held crisis talks with ministers at the Elysee Palace in response to the unrest. Demonstrators from Saint-Denis to Paris said they were demanding real change, with many voicing deep discontent at current conditions.
