Meta has consented to provide up to 18 billion US dollars to settle actions brought by US states over compulsive platform use and harms to children.
The landmark settlement concludes legal claims from California and other states related to youth addiction on its popular apps.
As part of the deal, Meta also agreed to significant reform measures on Facebook and Instagram. The legal pact ends active court battles in the United States involving claims over online risks to children and teens.
