Tadej Pogačar secured the win on Stage 19 on July 24. The Slovenian rider pushed the pace on Alpe d'Huez and finished well ahead. Only Richard Carapaz drew near. Pogačar's group had sick teammates earlier in the stage but he remained fit. His lead grew bigger on the last climbs. Two days prior, Carapaz secured Stage 18 just minutes behind.
